Right from the Start
Right from the Start is an Infant/Toddler Initiative program designed to continuously improve the quality of infant and toddler care. Recognizing the importance of the first three years of life, Right from the Start is committed to increase infant capacity in centers and enhance the professional development of infant/toddler teachers, which will improve the quality of care in infant and toddler programs.
Right from the Start will assist infant/toddler teachers to obtain certification through a higher education program focused on quality infant/toddler care.
Right from the Start will assist infant/toddler teachers to obtain the 120 hour training requirement for the Child Development Associate Credential with Infant-Toddler endorsement.
Infant/toddler teachers will also have ongoing support from the Infant Toddler Specialist or the Training and Development Specialist in the following areas:
- On-site coaching visits and technical assistance on quality infant and toddler care
- Collaborative Community of Practice (CoP) meetings
National CDA Program
Quest is a 120 hour training program that is part of the Right from the Start initiative. Created to help assist teachers with obtaining the professional education requirements for the Child Development Associate National Credentialing Program with an Infant Toddler endorsement, Quest infuses a hands-on approach for participants to learn concepts through learning stations. Teachers also use tablets to access the internet to explore relevant resources, with Smart Board technology to collaborate and review training materials. In addition, all participants receive coaching visits to support their implementation of the training content and navigation through the credentialing process.
Scholarships for Higher Education
Scholarships are available for teachers to access.
Right from the Start offers a Family Engagement piece.
Infant Capacity/Building Initiative
Right from the Start will support the opening of high-quality infant rooms in centers.
The centers will receive ongoing support from the Infant Toddler Specialist or Training and Development Specialist in the following areas:
- Professional Development for infant and toddler teachers
- On site coaching visits and technical assistance on quality infant and toddler care
- Stipends for materials in the new infant classroom.
